Back to The Docks (We The Wire Season Two)

My main issue with this season has been how so many pillars of the show—Kima, McNulty, Avon, Omar—have crumbled completely with little to no forewarning. In Kima’s case, she’s just become an empty shell, unable to hold up the weight that she has in  the past. Omar’s reaction (and demise) is real life, but they did very little to explain why Omar would lose his wits and self-preservation instinct so quickly. This is a dude that lived in the shadows and never lost his cool—even when his lover was murdered and humiliated. I know he loved Butchie, but still.

we order solutions and ask that they be all that we are not — resolute and neat, determined and in control, decisive and steadfast.

i often find myself like pusha in the 702 video: nodding to the beat, not above cracking the occasional smile, but mostly embarrassed by my surroundings and thinking that if the play bought me here, well, then, it can’t have been that good a play, can it?
